This is a simple yet stunning arrangement of the captivating folk ballad popularized by the movie, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Jay Althouse has re-introduced its original text, quietly underscored by a haunting, Copland-esque keyboard accompaniment. After the ballad is sung in canon, it segues quite naturally into the traditional spiritual, Jesus Walked That Lonesome Valley. Easy to prepare, yet unforgettable for the entire church year, especially All Saints', Ash Wednesday, Eastertide, and Lent, as well as school concerts and festivals. Available in 2 voicings.

Beautifully simple and effective
Used this for an Ash Wednesday service combining four churches and bringing together 25 singers with less than half an hour of rehearsal (though they had been given the music in advance). The familiar folk and hymn tune made it easy for the non-readers to catch on quickly. The piano accompaniment is appropriately spare for Lent, but also lovely and easy to play.

Down in the Valley to Pray
This is a lovely piece of music. Very easy to learn. The accompaniment is easy but adds an interesting element to the music.
