This piece is scored for 4 C flutes, alto, bass, and contrabass flutes. Here are divisi in every part, but it's only to extend chords and not essential to have more than one player per part. There is an optional double bass part that can also be played on a cello. This is to help carry the bass line, which helps keep a solid beat, and will make it easier for the other parts to play their syncopated rhythms. There are parts for a shaker and tambourine, which could be optional, but if possible, a tambourine would be extremely helpful. In the middle of the piece, some parts have either hand claps or finger snaps. Fun!
Although the syncopated rhythms are repetitious they fly by at a tempo of 160, so getting them spot on is especially important.
