This is an absolutely exquisite arrangement of a traditional Irish carol. The piece begins by establishing a traditional Celtic setting with sustained fifths that evolve and transform as they underscore the haunting melody. A short and effective aleatoric section gives each singer freedom to enter with the mystical melody at various times until all voices merge and sustain the final pitch creating sublime harmonies. The piece builds to a crescendo as the sopranos soar high supported by elegant harmonies. This otherworldly Christmas piece is sure to be a favorite for singers as well as audiences.ransliteration and IPA transcription are included.
