Reliable & Clear for Quick Ensemble Gigs
I occasionally sub for school or community bands, and this 'Discovery Overture' set is very practical. The individual parts are clearly engraved and easy to read on short notice, essential for Grade 1 material. While chord symbols aren't typically used for band parts, the clear notation is what matters. Page turns are manageable, making it a reliable choice for a quick gig or concert.

Ideal for First-Year Band Students
As a band director, I highly recommend 'Discovery Overture' for beginning groups. Enjoyable and Achievable for Community Bands
Playing this with my community band was a real joy! For a Grade 1 overture, Anne McGinty crafted some truly marvelous melodies and harmonies. It’s challenging enough to feel rewarding but definitely achievable for a weekend player like me. The online audio helped us get a feel for how it should sound. Highly recommend for pure musical enjoyment!
