Published by Sinfonia Music Co (A0.1825166).Although the Song was was firmly given its Irish roots by 'The Pogues' and lead singer Shane Mcgowan, who put the words to the music, it was originally written about Salford, an industrial town in Manchester where the writer Ewan McColl grew up. It was originally composed for the play 'Landscape with Chimney's' in 1960's. It quickly became a standard in the Folk Clubs. It was also recorded by 'The Dubliner's' another Irish folk group.
This is a full English Brass Band arrangement which is very easy listening dreamy in style, it will fit well into any brass band reportoise. There is also a small band arrangement for those smaller venues which cant accomodate a full set up.
