The waltz "Dios nunca muere" (God never dies) is said to have been composed by Macedonio Alcalà, composer and founder of 6 orchestras from Oaxaca state in Mexico, a few months before his death, at only 38 years of age. He sent the composition to flutist José Maqueo, who had been visiting him and supporting him financially in his last days. Maqueo himself directed one of Alcalà's orchestras at the composer's funeral, and since then the walts is considered a sort of second official hymn of the State of Oaxaca.
This is the version for a mariachi ensemble, transcribed by Guido Menestrina for Mariachi el Magnifico de Florencia.
