Die Triosonate. Catalogue Raisonné der gedruckten Quellen RISM Band B XVII 2 Clothbound Volumes School and Community - Sheet Music

By Ludwig Finscher

The trio sonata is regarded as one of the core chamber music genres of the 17th and 18th centuries. Corelli remains to this day its best-known exponent, but also before and after him there was a multitude of exceptional works in the genre that remain largely unknown today. This two-volume catalogue raisonné has finally brought these treasures to light. Thanks to support from the Balzan Foundation and the University of Zurich, this catalogue now offers the first-ever bibliography of the genre. It encompasses all the published trio sonatas of the 17th and 18th centuries, and also provides detailed information on sources and works, plus introductory commentaries. This printed catalogue will be complemented by an online database with enhanced search functions that will enable both scholars and practising musicians to explore this fascinating repertoire.
