Die Csárdásfürstin Vorspiel by Emmerich Kalman Concert Band - Sheet Music

By Emmerich Kalman

Emmerich Kálmán's most beloved operetta 'Die Csárdásfürstin' had its first performance at the Vienna 'Johann Strauss-Theater' in November 1915. Only in the German speaking countries it was performed 5000 times within the next five years. The libretto by Stein and Jebach tells the story of the cabaret singer Sylva Varescu who has to leave for an American tour and it is arranged that there should be a betrothal with the man she loves, Prince Edwin von und zu Lippert-Weylersheim. The prelude to the operetta is a short but very lively and exciting precursor to what the operetta will bring. Dutch arranger Jos Dobbelstein transcribed this 'Vorspiel' for Symphonic Band.
