This is probably why I based the theme on the Dies Irae (Day of Wrath, or better known as the Death Chant, also used by Berlioz, Liszt, and Rachmaninov). Short section 2: they migrate to Mexico (hear the guitar?); Section 3: all winter they are gone; Section 4: Oh do return again! Easy (based on a pattern of 6ths), though section 3 (winter) is a little more challenging, but definitely manageable.

Early Intermediate Technique
Split Rock Falls forms a good introduction to more technical challenges. In this piece the student is learning to use circular arm motion on a simple broken chord, with the introduction later on of voicing a melody note in the soprano while continuing the pattern in the alto. Also necessary is dropping the arm to achieve staccato thirds. This is just one of several other imaginative pieces by Deborah Swanger Fortier that provide an opportunity for the developing intermediate student to exploretechnical issues such as rotating wrist and elbow, Vivace playing using arm motion and arrpeggiated left hand. These pieces include Night, Departure of the Butterflies and Serenade. I highly recommend these, and equate them to Burgmueller.
