Declaration March presents a robust tribute to the adoption and signing of the Amercian Declaration of Independence. Dynamic contrasts and broad, maestoso themes paint a musical picture of this historic moment. .
Program notesThe unanimous Declation of the Thirteen United States of America, more generally known as the Declaration of Independence, approved by the Second Continental Congress on July 4th 1776, officially announced the separation of the thirteen American colonies from Great Britain. The Declaration resolved that "These united colonies are, and of right ought to be free and independent states." Convened and signed at the Pennsylvania state house, later renamed Indepence Hall, these delegates became known as the "Founding Fathers."Performance notesAt an M.M. of 104, Declaration March presents a robust tribute to the adoption and signing of the Amercian Declaration of Independence. Key to the performance is attention to the dynamic contrast built into Heritage. (See mm. 28-32 and 49-52) As well as the same attention to articulations. The re-scored augmentation of the original theme at m. 58 is to be played broadly (maestoso) through to the final measure at 85.
