Deze jazzmuzikant ontdekte bij toeval dat hij over een unieke stem beschikte en werd een wereldberoemde populaire zanger. Dit lied is een ballade over de mensen die in de bananenhandel werken. De Britse componist en arrangeur Terry Kenny schreef deze mooie versie voor blaasorkest.

The traditional song Day-Oh! became very popular when Harry Belafonte (New-York, 1927) put it in his repertoire as 'Banana Boat Song'. This jazz musician discovered by chance that he boasted a unique voice and so he became an internationally famous and popular singer. This song is a ballad telling about people working in the banana trade. The British composer and arranger Terry Kenny wrote this fine wind band version.
