The best option, but not great
The melody, words, and chords are all here. The piano part matches the basic feel of the recording. If that's all you need, I think you'll be happy. But If you know the recorded version of Godspell, prepare to be disappointed. Although there's no better version available for purchase, this is hardly a faithful arrangement of the original. The chording is generic and wimpy. Almost every rhythmic motive and countermelody has been stripped. The bass line is also generic, lacking again the particular details of the original.Crippled musical theater scores are nothing new, but it's particularly frustrating with a song like Day by Day, where the original piano part needs only slight modifications to be a standalone vocal accompaniment. A skilled pianist will have no trouble reconstructing, and arranging, the original from the recording. That is what I have decided to do. Apparently, players not comfortable working directly from recordings are out of luck.
