Dauprat: Six Quartets (Six Quatuors pour cors en differens tons) - horn quartet by Ray Thompson Brass Quartet - Digital Sheet Music

By Ray Thompson

"Trios, Quatuors et Sextuors pour cors en differens tons"

Louis François Dauprat (24 May 1781 – 16 July 1868) was a French horn player, composer and professor at the Conservatoire de Paris. He played and taught natural horn only, but was also very interested in the first experiments with keyedhorns. He successfully ensured the development of a distinctively French school of playing, marginally influenced by the invention of the valvehorn. He composed many pieces for trios, quartets and sextets; this is my transription from the manusciript of the 6 quartets from his book"Trios, Quatuors et Sextuors pour cors en differens tons" (Trios, Quartets and Sextets for horns in different crooks)I include transcriptions of the original parts (in varying keys) and transposed F partsSome judicial changes made to parts in respect of of expression and articulations
