Danse Infernale from The Firebird for Brass Choir & Percussion by Igor Stravinsky Score - Sheet Music

By Igor Stravinsky

Steven Eckert has brilliantly arranged Igor Stravinsky's Danse Infernale from the Firebird Ballet for Brass Choir and Percussion. The Danse Infernale, also known as the Infernal Dance of King Kastchei is one of the great iconic works of the entire 20th Century. The work, composed in 1910 and premiered that same year in Paris for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballet Russes Company burst young Stravinsky onto the world stage and marked the moment when post-Romantic style of composition was becoming predominant. The Danse Infernale rushes headlong into a frenetic and wild dance with feathers flying onstage and the orchestra dashing forward at a maddening pace, hardly letting up till the last note. The instrumentation is for 4 Trumpets (including Piccolo) 4 Horns 4 Trombones, 2 Euphoniums, 2 Tubas, Timpani, large Percussion section including Xylophone, Glockenspiel and Marimba.
