This 4 movement sonatina is full of fun for both players. Gordon had a great sense of humour which is very evident in this piece. It is dedicated to Elsie Walley, a mutual friend, who was the first woman to play the bass in the BBC Symphony Orchestra. The movements, Allegretto giocoso, Andante sostenuto, Tempo di minuet and Vivo are suitable for players of intermediate standard and make a very enjoyable concert piece for players of all abilities.
