Cripple Creek by Michael Hopkins String Orchestra - Sheet Music

By Michael Hopkins
String Orchestra - Grade 3

SKU: GG.GMMOR29SC

Composed by Michael Hopkins. Full Score. Grand Mesa Strings #GMMOR29SC. Published by Grand Mesa Strings (GG.GMMOR29SC).

Set in the key of D major, this arrangement of a well-known fiddle tune gives every section of the orchestra the melody. The piece lies very well under the fingers and requires no shifting except in the double bass. It is an excellent work for developing flexibility in the bow, for working on double stops, for playing chromatic slides, and for playing in an American folk fiddling style. Students and audiences will really enjoy this great high energy ending for a concert program!

Excellent genre piece challenging all sections.
Cripple Creek is a challenging, well written arrangement of an old standard. I like how it features all sections and challenges the violins with slides and triplet slurs at section D. It is an excellent genre piece for a middle school or beginning high school group. Keys of D/ A/ D.
