A Church Musician Must-Have!
I highly recommend this book! I am a violinist for our church (and also a tympanist). We have several musicians (about a dozen of us...instruments include trumpets, flutes, clarinets, French horn, tympani, alternate percussion, string base, violins, and saxophone). This book has all the parts we need for all of the instruments (including tympani located back of book). The key signatures mostly match the key signatures of the corresponding hymns in the Episcopal church hymnal, and hymn layout is same. If not the same key as our hymnal we often use the Hopson arrangement. Instrument parts are easy, but combine to make a majestic sound with the wonderful harmonies, obligato parts and descents etc. Every church music director and musician should have one! I use mine all the time! I've worn it out. Binding is good but I have beat it up pretty bad toting it every week in my music bag. Best to make copies of pieces you need for the week. Highly recommend this book, and thankful for it!
