Movement I deals with the creation from the void, of Earth, stars, Sun and seas.
Movement II, in rondo form, using a poem by Sam Hargreaves, depicts the creation of life, first plants, then a melody
An Orchid Alone, attributed to Qui Ming, here played by solo viola. Then fish and birds, using lyrics by Jane Tims and
a few of Beethoven's bars. Lastly , land animals: I leave it to you to imagine the animals the music depicts. The chorus
reminds us that this is all a story which some believe. In Movement III, the creator realises there should be people in
Eden, and creates Adam, then Eve. The chorus remind us: these are stories. For each, there is a fanfare. An oboe
cadenza limns their meeting, and each has a short cadenza expressing wonder at the other's appearance. They sing a
love duet. As a coda, we hear a fanfare for the Creator.
