CORDOBADit stuk is een deeltje uit het vijfdelig pianowerk 'Cantos de España' (Liederen uit Spanje) opus 232 dat bestaat uit Preludio (Asturias), Oriental, Bajo la Palmera (Cuba), Cordóba en Seguidillas (Castilla), waarvan sommige deeltjes reeds in de 'Suite Española' opgenomen zijn. Cordoba, het voorlaatste deel, bereidt de grandeur en sereniteit van de laatste werken van de compo-nist voor; het is alsof hij zich uit de hectische dynamische wereld terugtrekt. De inleiding heeft een ingetogen, bijna liturgisch karakter, terwijl de dans die erop volgt eerder plechtstatig klinkt. Córdoba is als een eiland in een woelige stroom. Het is een Andalusische dans net zo majestueus van aard als de stad waardoor zij geïnspireerd werd. Deze zeer harmonische compositie behoort tot de beste werken van Albéniz behoort.

CORDOBAThis piece is an extract from the five part piano work 'Cantos de España' (Songs from Spain) opus 232 which consists of 'Preludio' (Asturias), 'Oriental', 'Bajo la Palmera' (Cuba), 'Cordóba' and 'Seguidillas' (Castilla); some of these parts are also to be found in the 'Suite Española'. 'Cordoba', the last part but one, seems to announce the grandeur and serenity of the composer's last works; it is as if he was preparing to retire from the hectic dynamic world. The introduction has a subdued, almost liturgical character, whereas the next dance sounds rather very solemn. Cordóba is as an island in the restless stream. It is an Andalusian dance with a majestic character similar to that of the city which inspired the work. This very harmonious composition is one of Albéniz's finest.

Cordoba, l'avant-dernier morceau, prépare la grandeur et la sérénité des dernières oeuvres du compositeur qui donne l'impression de vouloir se retirer délibérément du monde dynamique et très agité. L'introduction a une saveur recueillie, contenue, liturgique, tandis que la danse qui suit est plutôt majestueuse. Cordóba est comme une île paisible dans un fleuve trépidant. C'est une danse andalouse seigneuriale, comme la cité qui l'inspire. Cette composition très harmonieuse est digne de figurer parmi les meilleures d'Albéniz.

Cordoba, der vorletzte Teil, scheint die Bedeutung der Grossartigkeit und den Serenität Albéniz' letzter Schaffensphase anzukündigen. Mit diesem Stück zieht er sich aus der bebenden und dynamischen Welt zurück. Der Charakter der Einleitung ist zurückhaltend, ja liturgisch, weil der darauffolgende Tanz majestätisch ist. Cordóba ist wie eine Insel in der Mitte eines unruhigen Flusses. Es ist ein andalusischer Tanz, herrschaftlich wie die Stadt, von der er inspiriert wurde. Diese harmonische Komposition ist würdig zu den besten Werken Albéniz' gezählt zu werden.
