Hummel – Trumpet Concerto (Arrangement for Trumpet Duet)
This arrangement transforms the famous Trumpet Concerto by Johann Nepomuk Hummel into an accessible and expressive version for two trumpets, ideal for recitals, study, and chamber music settings. The solo part remains almost entirely faithful to the original score, while the second trumpet provides a clear, well‑balanced accompaniment designed to support the main melodic line without overshadowing it.

About the Composer
Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778–1837) was one of the most influential musicians of the transition between the Classical and early Romantic periods. His career is remarkable not only for his virtuosity but also for his direct connections with the greatest composers of his time:
• He studied for two years with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, being one of the very few students welcomed into Mozart’s home.
• He personally knew Joseph Haydn, through his father’s work at the Esterházy court.
• He also knew Ludwig van Beethoven, with whom he had a complex, sometimes competitive, yet mutually respectful relationship.
These unique connections place Hummel at the crossroads between the Mozartian tradition and the emerging musical language of the 19th century.

About the Concerto
Composed in 1803 for Anton Weidinger’s keyed trumpet, Hummel’s concerto remains one of the most frequently performed works in the trumpet repertoire. It blends Classical elegance with brilliant virtuosity and clear, articulate writing — making it a cornerstone piece for developing both technique and musical expression.

About This Arrangement
• The solo part stays true to the original composition.
• The second trumpet provides a melodic and rhythmic accompaniment that enhances the solo line.
• Perfect for:
• student and studio recitals
• chamber music classes
• duet practice
• educational performances
This arrangement preserves the festive, brilliant character of Hummel’s concerto while offering a rewarding musical experience for two performers.

I used Maurice Andre's interpretation to write this arrangement. The trills were written as they are sung, even some of the note values were modified according to his interpretation.
