Wegen seiner Besetzung könnte man davon ausgehen, dass das vorliegenden Werk ein Tripelkonzert ist, wie z.B. das Concerto grosso h-moll, TWV 53:h1 (M 40.143). Im Telemann-Werke-Verzeichnis wird es in der Gruppe der Doppelkonzerte (TWV 52) aufgeführt. Das Fagott, alternativ Violoncello oder Colascione (Tonbeispiel), wird von Telemann nicht als konzertierendes Instrument eingesetzt, sondern als Bassinstrument, das den beiden Flöten eine zusätzliche Klangfarbe beigibt.
