Concerto for Trombone was written especially for Jörgen van Rijen, the solo trombonist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam.
It is a composition without a story, consisting of four overlapping parts.
The solo part was not written for Jörgen van Rijen technical skills, but rather for his expressive technique in the higher registers.
According to Jan Bosveld, Jörgen van Rijen has additional merits that distinguish him from all other trombonists.
Concerto for Trombone was premiered at the International Music Festival in Saas-Fee, Switzerland.The Repräsentations Orchester des Schweizer Armeespiel, conducted by Christopher Walter, accompanied him.

This composition was made financially possible by the Music Lending and Information Centre (MUI), department of the library for the province of Gelderland in Arnhem, The Netherlands. Special thanks goes to mr. Bert Aalders, director of the MUI.

Het Concerto for Trombone is speciaal geschreven voor Jörgen van Rijen, solo trombonist van het Koninklijk Concertgebouw Orkest.
Het is een non-programmatische compositie bestaande uit vier in elkaar overgaande delen.
Desolo-partij is voornamelijk geschreven in het espressieve, hoge register. Een echte specialiteit van Jörgen van Rijen.
De premi?re vond plaats op het internationale muziekfestival van Saas-Fee (Zwitserland). De begeleiding wasin handen van het Repräsentations Orchester des Schweizer Armeespiel o.l.v. Christoph Walter.

Deze compositie werd financieel mogelijk gemaakt door het Muziek Uitleen en Informatiecentrum (MUI) van de Provinciale BibliotheekCentrale Gelderland.Dank gaat uit naar Bert Aalders, hoofd van het MUI.
