Concerto for Bassoon Bassoon Solo - Sheet Music

Bassoon and piano

SKU: P2.40003

Composed by Noah D. Taylor. Chamber music, 20th century. Published by Potenza Music (P2.40003).

Noah D. Taylor says, "The Concerto for Bassoon was composed in 2011 for bassoonist Mary Stuckemeyer. An expansive work, the concerto is cast in the usual three-movement format. Mary is the wife of euphoniumist Pat Stuckemeyer, and several years earlier I had composed the Concerto for Euphonium for Pat. I wanted this new piece for Mary to be a companion piece to the euphonium concerto. Both works share similarities with regards to form and harmonic language. While all of the thematic materials for both works are independent, I do use similar motifs in the Concerto for Bassoon that hint at the earlier composition. Like the euphonium concerto, this work is fun and flashy as it shows off the capabilities of the bassoon." From the first opening Allegro to the final flashy coda, this challenging work is sure to delight!
