The D minor Concerto is one of a group of Telemann's works for two violins, viola and basso continuo that have largely been ignored by musicians and musicologists. One reason may lie in the term concerto, for none of these pieces has a dominant solo part. They are rather concerti a quattro or concerti ripieni. This volume contains the original version for strings as well a version for flute quartet preserved in a Parisian print of 1752 and once thought to be by Telemann himself.
