Concert Etudes 6 & 7 Tenor Trombone Trombone Solo - Sheet Music

Mike Svoboda continues his series of Concert Etudes for Solo Trombone consistently with Etudes Nos. 6 and 7. While the first five pieces of the ten-part collection were primarily pedagogically motivated, the focus here is on expressiveness and virtuosity. Both works were commissioned by the ARD International Music Competition and are aimed at advanced players who want to challenge themselves both technically and artistically. Six introverted verses (No. 6) interweave falling melodic lines with ascending glissandi up to extreme registers - a play with contour and resolution. Five extroverted refrains (No. 7), on the other hand, demand maximum agility, precision and breath control: “as fast as possible - quasi bebop with grind and groove.” Like all pieces in the series, these tracks can be performed individually or in freely combinable selections - as expressive sound miniatures between jazz, contemporary music and the physical-poetic power of brass playing.
