If there's any doubt about a piece being written by Reinken, they've omitted it from this 'complete' edition altogether. That only leaves four works (and excludes three others). They dutifully list in the preface the pieces they excluded e.g. the Fugue in Gm. I want to play this piece regardless of its questionable authorship. So where will I find it, in this or any of their volumes? I won't. In Schott's plan, if theres any question about the authorship, it shouldn't be played at all! Better would be to include everything that MIGHT be by Reinken and label it as doubtful authorship. Thats what Breitkopf & Hartel does in their edition, and Ill be getting their editions from now on. I dont want to be fooled by Schotts Complete (ha ha, not really) editions again.
