New Edition in 10 Volumes – Urtext. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Werner Breig. Solo instruments; Softbound. Edition Breitkopf.
You will find supplementary material online
Baroque period. Score. 184 pages. Breitkopf and Haertel #EB 8808. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.EB-8808).
ISBN 9790004183779. 12.5 x 10 inches.
Volume 8 presents the work group called the "Leipziger Chorale." Next to the late versions compiled and entered by Bach himself in the manuscript "P 271", all of the early versions with their sometimes widely divergent readings have also been edited here. The examination and evaluation of all relevant copies uncovered many and surprising new readings. Responsible for the new edition is the renowned organist and musicologist Jean-Claude Zehnder. A detailed introduction addressing also performance-related aspects and an easily legible commentary top off this volume as well. More versions presented synoptically and for printing as well as a facsimile of an early copy of BWV 664 are provided online.
