By Lloyd Larson
SATB choir

SKU: LO.65-1948L

A Cantata for Christmas. Composed by Lloyd Larson. Choral, cantatas. Christmas, Sacred. Choral score. Exaltation Publications #65/1948L. Published by Exaltation Publications (LO.65-1948L).

UPC: 000308065992.

Proclamations about the Messiah's coming nearly always included two messages: comfort and joy. "Be not afraid...I bring you good news of great joy!" Combining familiar carols with new texts and tunes, Lloyd Larsen and Pamela Martin have blended their talents to create a fresh interpretation to the timeless Christmas story. In addition to being presented as a large single work, any of the numbers may be used individually during the seasons of Advent, Christmas or Epiphany, making this a truly versatile choral resource. Performance time: approximately 40 minutes.

  • My Soul Rejoices
  • Josephs Song
  • Overture
  • Hear The Angels Singing
  • How Great Our Joy
  • Wise Men Saw the Light
  • Tidings of Comfort and Joy
  • Joy to the World the Lord Is Come
  • Sleepers Awake

Very Nice Cantata!
My church choir just performed this Cantata. It is not too difficult to perform, and contains very lovely melodies and lyrics. Lloyd Larson and Pamela Martin have much to proud of with this music. We used a percussionist and handbells as accompaniment were indicated. I recommend that other church choirs seriously consider Comfort and Joy for thier Chiristmas programs.

Comfort and Joy
I would LIKE to review this piece but unfortunately the link to the listen excerpt plays a good bit of narration and accompaniment. I need to hear the voices. I'll keep trying. Perhaps the problem is my PC....? Thanks.
