Beach Spring is a tune that has many texts associated with it. "Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy" is my favorite of them. The melody is from The Sacred Harp, and it’s pentatonic. That means that it only uses the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th notes of the major scale. In the middle section of my arrangement, I tried an experiment: could I change the overall feel to minor while preserving the original melody notes? You can listen to the results yourself.
