Composed by John Wyeth, 1770-1858. Arranged by Richard Joseph Barber. 20th Century,Christian,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Barber Music Company #2998713. Published by Barber Music Company (A0.915673).
As recorded on "The Winds of God" CD (cdbaby.com). DifficultyMedium range, and should be singable by soprano, alto, tenor, or bass. Not difficult musically or vocally, but fun to sing and enjoyable to hear, Uses Good for general conservative Christian worship. Could also be a great recital piece. I wouldn't hesitate to program it. The melody is wonderful, and the arrangement has a classic interest and appeal that will make it right at home in a serious musical context. Performance Notes Sing the first two verses non legato and somewhat marcato with the light bounce of a happy lilt in your voice. The third verse sing slower and more reflectively. Legato is the strong tool here. Let you crescendos and diminuendos be smooth and intense. Sing expressing profound gratitude to God for His grace.
