Thrilled to Play This Jaco Classic!
As an adult learner in a community jazz band, this arrangement of 'Come On, Come Over' by Jaco Pastorius is incredibly fun and rewarding. It feels authentic to the original, especially with the bass featured so well. The Grade 4 difficulty is a good challenge, pushing our ensemble to improve our funk rhythm and interplay. It really makes us sound like a pro band!

Mark Taylor's arrangement of Jaco Pastorius's 'Come On, Come Over' is a superb choice for a Grade 4 jazz ensemble. The scoring is clear, and the trade-offs between sections offer fantastic opportunities for teaching rhythmic precision and ensemble cohesion. The prominent bass part is a great feature, and the alto sax solo provides a focal point. Highly recommended for advanced high school or college groups.

Dynamic Ensemble Support for Lead Voices
While a full jazz ensemble chart, the piano part here, within Mark Taylor's arrangement of Jaco Pastorius's funk classic, provides excellent rhythmic and harmonic support. The overall texture, with its traded riffs and hard-hitting brass, creates a vibrant backdrop that would elevate any lead instrumentalist or vocalist performing with the group. It’s well-balanced and drives the funk groove effectively.
