Good Duets!
As a piano teacher, I look for material that would be fun for the students to play. Among my students are twin girls who love to play duets at the Recitals. Last year they played Thousand and One Nights by J. Strauss, and this year they played Drinking Song from La Traviata by Verdi, both from this Duet Book.Allan Small arranged the duets very well. The Primo and Secondo parts were equally well written, and on the same levels as each other. I liked that they (the Primo and Secondo parts) were written on separate pages. The songs were lively and familiar, and always brought smiles from the audience as well as the young performers.My only suggestion for Allan Small, for his next publication, would be that the songs would be a little longer, or had optional repeated sections to give a more satisfying performance. I am giving the book 5 stars, based on the 2 pieces that my students learned.
