Of two minds
Let me just say that this is for experienced trombonists only, maybe even pros only. The range of the selections is from the Eb above the staff to the Eb above that. Part of me wants to point out that if I wanted to play a trumpet, that's the instrument I would have chosen. Either the trombonist on the CD is an expert's expert or he's using a small mouthpiece to hit those notes. I consider myself intermediate/advanced and had to work really hard to keep up, and even then I can't reliably hit D above high C and have never hit the Eb above that. Some warning on the packaging or website would have been nice about the range. There is room to re-write the melody yourself an octave lower. The quality of the playing is terrific and you're backed up by a real band, not a synthesize, xylophone, or piano. The soloist plays with feeling, which is great, but he doesn't keep tempo, and for the Minus-1 player, there's no steady beat to count on. Worth the price, but buyer beware.
