A Fantastic Chart for Jazz Program Development
Mike Tomaro's arrangement of 'City' is an excellent addition to our high school jazz ensemble library. The medium groove is perfect for reinforcing rhythmic precision and ensemble balance. The well-crafted parts, including the Trumpet and Tenor duet, offer great teaching moments. It's challenging enough to engage advanced students while being accessible for solid intermediate groups. Highly recommended for 'School and Community' usage!

Dynamic Piano Role in an Energetic Fusion Chart
While this is a big band chart, the piano part for 'City' is very engaging. It's not just a background filler; the cues for the guitar lick ensure an active, supporting role within the rhythm section. The overall texture is rich, providing a solid foundation for the horns. It maintains a terrific medium groove that drives the entire ensemble. A well-constructed fusion piece!

Solid Big Band Fusion, Gig-Ready
This Mike Tomaro arrangement of 'City' delivers. It's a dependable Hal Leonard chart with a good medium fusion groove. The parts are clearly laid out, which is essential for quick reads on a gig. The score and parts format is practical, and I'd expect accurate chord symbols for the rhythm section. It's a versatile piece that would fit well into many big band programs or event sets.

Playing 'City' from Jeff Lorber's 'Wizard Island' album with my community big band is a blast! Mike Tomaro's arrangement really captures that great fusion sound. The medium groove is enjoyable and feels achievable, letting us focus on the ensemble blend. Our band sounds fantastic playing it, and it's definitely a highlight of our rehearsals. Very satisfying for a weekend musician!
