Analysis: "Circles is a two-movement composition that features three performers: (1) solo marimbist requiring a low-A marimba and intermediate to advanced four-mallet technique; (2) vibraphonist with bow and a guiro; (3) second vibraphonist with bow and a djembe (or a conga as a substitute instrument). The composition is 12 minutes in length and definitely features the marimba soloist. The accompanying vibraphone parts are not as difficult, but the trio must be in sync with each other in order for this trio to be successful. Contemporary in stylistic composition, Circles would be appropriate fro a new music program or as a recital feature for the marimba soloist." - Jim Lambert Percussive Notes, August 1999.
