Chorus Choir (SSAATTBB) - Level 4 - Digital Download
SKU: A0.1149356
Composed by Anton Bruckner. Arranged by Jay Dougherty. This edition: pdf, streaming. 19th Century, Early Music, Romantic Period, Sacred. 14 pages. Jay Dougherty #749497. Published by Jay Dougherty (A0.1149356).
Christus factus est is written for eight-part mixed chorus, 3 trombones, 4 violins, 2 viola, 2 violoncello, and 1 contrabass. It was composed at the same time as his Third Symphony and similar influences season both compositions, such as the d-minor key, use of pedal tone, contrapuntal passages, use of suspensions and abrupt changes in musical character. It was first performed by the highly qualified musicians of the Vienna Hofmusikkapelle (court musical ensemble), one of the oldest and most distinguished musical institutions in Europe, on December 8, 1873. This edition, by Dr. Jay Dougherty, presents a usable version in modern notation. Of note is that Bruckner has two compositions by this same title. WAB 11 (1884) is far more common. This version, WAB 10 (1873) is his more unknown setting. Vocal scores and instrument scores are available with proof of purchase (at no extra charge) from www.jmdougherty.com (use the contact link). Please purchase enough "full scores" for your entire ensemble (including instrumentalists if applicable) and the vocal scores and instrumental scores will be sent to you at no additional cost.
