The Christmas Concerto isthe popular title of one of the 12 Concerto Grossi written by Arcangelo Corelli. ThisConcertoinG minorbears the inscription, "Made for the Night of Christmas". Since the Concerti were first published after Corelli’s death in 1711 we have no way of knowing when it was first performed.
This arrangement is of the Allegro second movement and is scored for String Trio, two Violins and one Cello. The score and all parts are combined in one pdf file.
Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The rhythms are straightforward, and sound best played fast. The constant movement of the Cello part is challenging. All players will enjoy experiencing the rich texture of Corelli’s counterpoint. The overall performance time is around three minutes if played at full tempo.
