Christmas Arrangement for Concert Band.
“Christmas Carol Medley” is an arrangement that weaves together eight well-known carols into a single continuous work. It opens quietly with the introduction of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas", followed by the gentle, hymn-like atmosphere and moments of mystery. From "Joy to the World" onward, the piece builds into a festive climax, and "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" returns at the end in a reflective manner, leaving a warm afterglow.
The rich sonority and full harmonies unique to concert band evoke both the warmth and brilliance of the Christmas season. Effective performance depends on carefully shifting tone color and phrasing to match each section. Because the piece features delicate ensemble writing, maintaining balance and allowing every part to sing will create a refined and dimensional sound.
