Na een enigszins impressionistisch getinte inleiding volgt een koraalmelodie in hoorns en bassen, waarop het werk gebaseerd is.In diverse gedaanten en instrumentaties, met omspelingen, keert dit thema enige malen terug, waarbij het ook dynamisch zeer afwisselend klinkt en tenslotte uitmondt in een groots en plechtig klinkend grandioso. Het werk is bovenal gedacht als klankstuk voor blaasorkest.

Choral Prelude starts with an impressionistic introduction, which leads to the mainstay of the composition, the actual choral tune played by the horns and basses.This theme is repeated several times under different aspects and in different orchestral settings. There is much variation in the dynamics and the work ends with a solemn and imposing final. Here is an ideal work to ge a good tone balance with the band.

Une introduction de caractère impresionniste est suivie d’une mélodi de choral, interprétée par les cors et les basses, et qui forme la base de l’oeuvre.Ce thème revient plusieurs fois sous des aspects differents et dans différentes formes d’orchestration. L’oeuvre est très variée quant à la dynamique; elle se termine par un final solennel et d’aspect grandiose. Voici un morceau idéal pour bien mettre l’orchestre en équilibre sonore.

Nach eine impressionistischen introduktion hören wir das zentrale Thema das von den Hörnern und Bassinstrumenten gespielt wird.Dieses Hauptthema wird unter verschiedenen Aspekten und in Besonders in der Dynamik gibt es viele Verschiedenheit und eine eindrucksvolle Finale schliesst das Werk ab. Es ist besonders geeignet um ihr Blasorchester auszubalancieren.
