Several versions of this song reached #1 in the U.S., Mexico, and UK. British trumpeter, Eddie Calvert’s instrumental version in 1955 reached #1 in the UK. This advanced-intermediate level piece is rhythmically interesting and has a lively mambo feel. A bongos part is included in the arrangement, but when no percussion is being used, the penultimate measure would need to be deleted. This piece would fit well in a Latin jazz-themed program.
