In 1991, Che Xing (who still published works under his real name 'Che Guangming' at the time) met Qi Jianbo at an event organized by the magazine 'Songs,' hosted by the Chinese Musicians Association. In 1995, upon learning the tragic news of his father's death, Che Xing tried to write a song expressing familial love but had no ideas. In 1996, during a business trip, Che Xing was moved by the scenery, reminisced about his parents and family, and wrote down the five words '常回家看看' In 1997, Qi Jianbo's song 'Chinese Baby' became a sensation after it was performed on that year's CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Early the following year, Che Xing sent Qi Jianbo more than ten song lyrics, including '常回家看看'. Qi Jianbo was deeply moved when he saw this lyric and composed the music for it.
