I was fortunate enough, after about a year of composing on and off in my free time, to be given permission to write a piece for my high school orchestra. This piece is the result. Though the version that will be performed in spring of 2026 contains some simplifications to ensure the success of all skill levels, it maintains the same overarching style and thematic contents that make up this original edition.
My choice of instrumentation was influenced by the incoming graduation of our school’s principal cellist and my school’s developing tradition of giving graduating seniors solos to showcase all that they have learned over their time at our school.
This piece is as much an experiment to illuminate my compositional flaws as it is a piece that I believe is befitting of one of the places I have felt most welcome, my school’s orchestra. This is my attempt at giving back to those who have helped me become who I am.
