Originally commissioned by the Midland Music Teachers Association in 1999, this exciting fanfare-filled piece is made all the more impressive by the work of two pianists at the keyboard. Syncopated rhythms, a relentless and exuberant pace, one part staccato against the other part legato, rolling broken-chord patterns, and shifts in tonality all combine and build dramatically to the final chords. Great Duet!
This duet has become a tradition for my graduating seniors and I to perform at their last recital! It is fun to play, upbeat, and the title says it all....Celebration Overture! It is a celebration as these seniors perform one last time!
