Celebrate the Child is a great addition to the choices a local church has for its Christmas cantata. Stan Pethel has a wonderful knack at making his compositions flexible enough for even the smallest choir but interesting enough for larger ones. Everyone loves Amy Grant's Breath of Heaven but too many arrangers have written to impress their peers. Stan gets it just right...poignant, beautiful. And there are plenty of traditional carols sprinkled throughout the cantata which not only audiences will appreciate but also the choir director who won't have to teach large amounts of new music.
