Uruguyan composer Jose Serebrier has written a unique concerto for English horn and string orchestra, aptly titled Casi un Tango (Almost a Tango), as it exhibits the playful mood and characteristics of the tango. However, in terms of meter and form, this piece is much more refined and rhapsodic, set in A-B-A form and a simple 4/4 meter. The solo part is also easily adaptable for other solo instruments, and alternate solo parts are provided for flute, oboe, B-flat clarinet, bassoon, French horn, and trumpet.
