’Twas the show before Christmas, when all through the hall,
The patrons were list’ning, alert one and all.
The singers were caroling loudly and clear
In hopes they imparted good holiday cheer.
The holiday season has many a treat
As all through December we mingle and eat.
But this day their schedule had been such a crunch
That our singers had not eaten dinner or lunch.
So listen quite carefully, children, and hear
This everyday carol, familiar and dear,
Corrupted by singers, who, needing to eat,
Can’t help but insert thoughts of holiday treats.
