Capriccio is an exciting rock influenced (framing a section of my signature lyricism) snapshot for Contrabassoon and piano written as a gift for my friend Lewis Lipnick. Upon hearing that Lew was diagnosed with cancer, I contacted a couple of our mutual friends (Noelia Escalzo and Kalevi Aho) and we all wrote Lew a short work. I presented him with the three pieces (Escalzo's Mocha and Aho's Elegy) in March of 2017 during my visit to Washington D.C. for the American Trombone Workshop. It is my hope that in the future these three works will become a recital set for contrabassoonists to enjoy.
