Zijn Capriccio componeerde Marcel Poot in 1963. Na een langzame inleiding volgt een pittig gepunteerd thema in hout en koper - typerend voor het werk van deze componist - dat op het gebied van samenspel het uiterste van het blaasorkest vereist. Het zangerige tweede thema in het hout wordt gevolgd door de overgang tot het andantino met een prachtige breed uitgesponnen melodie in klarinet- en tubaregister. Na een korte terugkeer tot het openingsthema wordt de compositie afgesloten met een wervelend allegro vivo, waarin alle voorgaande thema's en motieven worden verwerkt.

The Capriccio was composed in 1963. A slow introduction is followed by a lively dotted theme with woodwind and brass, which is quite typical for Poot's style, but which makes the ensemble playing extremely delicate. The melodious second theme with the woodwind, changes into an andantino with a nice and broadly developed melody played by the clarinets and euphoniums. After a brief come-back of the initial theme the composition ends with a sparkling allegro vivo that summarizes all previous themes and motifs.

Le Capriccio a été composé en 1963. Une introduction lente est suivie d'un thème pointillé chez les bois et les cuivres - un élément tout à fait typique chez Poot - ce qui rend le jeu d'ensemble excessivement délicat. Le deuxième thème mélodieux chez les bois est suivi d'un andantino avec une belle mélodie délayée dans le registre des clarinettes et des tubas. Après un bref retour au thème initial la composition se termine par un allegro vivo tourbillonnant, oû l'on retrouve tous les thèmes et motifs précédents.

Nach einer langsamen Introduktion hört man ein schneidiges punktiertes Thema bei den Holz- und Blechbläsern, das das Ensemblespiel des Blasorchesters ganz schwierig macht. Dies ist ganz typisch für Poots Stil. Das melodische zweite Thema bei den Holzbläsern führt zum Andantino mit einer schönen breiten von den Klarinetten und Tenortuben gespielten Melodie. Nach einer kurzen Rückkehr zum Anfangsthema endet die Komposition mit einem wirbelnden Allegro Vivo in dem alle frühere Themen und Motive noch Mal an die Reihe kommen.
