Motet. Composed by Bertold Hummel. This edition: choral score. Schott Choral Music. Le texte est tiré du psaume 98, dont Hummel a choisi les deux premiers passages. Aux alentours de 800, les vers quelque peu remaniés du psaume avaient déjà été adaptés à la version grégorienne. Choral score. Op. 97c. Duration 3 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q7078. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7078).
Latin.
This 'utility music' in the best sense of the word is warmly recommended for all male-voice choirs. Bertold Hummel wrote a-cappella choral music mainly for use in church services. He composed Cantate Domino for the longstanding director of the Academy for Catholic Church Music in Regensburg, Hubert Velten, and his vocal ensemble cantARTE. As text he chose those sections of Psalm 98 which, though slightly modified, had already been put to a Gregorian melody around 800.
