The oringal version of Call to Glory was set in a lower key so that range would not be a challenge for a young trumpet player perforning in his/her first solo contest, festival, or recital. To make this more appropriate and appealing to an intermediate trumpet player, the original version has now been transposed up a fourth and many of the piano voicings have been rescored (not just transposed). This now places the solo in a range of the trumpet that is more brilliant and characteristic of intermediate trumpet solos.
The contemporary harmonies in the piano accompaniment help give this solo a much more mature sound than many solos at this level. Upper range is now up to concert "G" (written A abpve the staff for the Bb trumpet) with one optional concert high "Ab" (written Bb) at the end. Technical and rhythmic challenges are few, yet, this is a very mature-sounding work. This purchase includes the piano accompaniment and the solo trumpet .
